Why Neonates?

Unweaned kittens are some of the most at-risk animals to enter the shelter system. In fact, many shelters are forced to euthanize orphaned newborn kittens simply because they don’t have the resources and training to care for them.

When we founded the Kitten Alliance, we knew the current system wasn’t working. Fantastic organizations were struggling to save neonates, there was no system in place to provide the necessary resources and support, and the kittens were suffering from it.

By focusing all of our time, energy, and resources on neonates (unweaned kittens under 6 weeks old), we are filling a critical gap in the rescue community, helping other organizations build their own stronger neonate programs for the future, and saving the lives of the tiniest and most vulnerable kittens.
